The Internet Changed My Life Twice.
The Internet Changed My Life Twice.
The internet gave me almost everything I have today.
It also nearly became the reason I stopped growing.
For years, I thought those were two different stories.
Looking back...
I think they’re the same one.
The internet taught me English.
As a kid, I watched YouTube constantly.
I wanted to become a gaming creator like PewDiePie.
Without realizing it, I learned English.
Later I learned how YouTube worked.
Then I learned how to edit.
How to tell stories.
How to build an audience.
Eventually...
Those lessons became my career.
The internet gave me freedom.
Then it slowly took it away.
After my channel became successful...
I stopped growing.
I’d finish work for the day...
Then spend hours scrolling.
Watching Shorts.
Watching anime.
Consuming without thinking.
The same internet that had once taught me everything...
had quietly become a way to avoid my own life.
I blamed the algorithm.
I blamed dopamine.
I blamed social media.
Looking back...
I don’t think they were the real problem.
I was.
I no longer had a reason to use the internet intentionally.
So it became entertainment instead of education.
Escape instead of growth.
Everything changed after my breakup.
For the first time in years...
I questioned who I wanted to become.
That question changed everything else.
I started reading.
Learning psychology.
Communication.
Business.
Writing.
Almost overnight...
My algorithm changed too.
Not because YouTube changed.
Because I did.
Looking back
The internet didn’t change.
My identity did.
When I wanted entertainment...
The internet gave me endless entertainment.
When I wanted growth...
The internet gave me endless teachers.
The internet is one of the most powerful tools humanity has ever created.
It can waste your life.
Or completely transform it.
Usually...
It simply becomes more of whatever you’re looking for.
